The Golden Horseshoe of the Lviv Region
The "Golden Horseshoe" is the region's most popular tourist route, arcing through its three most famous castles. A classic one-day excursion takes in all three; you can do it by car on your own or as an organized tour from Lviv.
Olesko Castle
The oldest fortress on the route (first mentioned in 1327) and birthplace of the Polish king Jan III Sobieski. Today it houses a museum with rich collections of old art, surrounded by a charming Italian park.

Pidhirtsi Castle
One of Europe's finest Renaissance-Baroque palaces, famous for its lavish park and the mystical legend of the White Lady.
