The Skole Beskids and the area around Lviv are full of natural landmarks: forest waterfalls, giant rocks with caves, mountain lakes and observation towers. Here are the best spots for a day in nature — with addresses, photos and route tips.
The most popular is Kamianka in the Skole Beskids — several cascades in the forest on an easy trail from Skhidnytsia.
The Skole Beskids: Kamianka and Laznyi waterfalls, Zhuravlyne lake, the Carpathian Lighthouse tower — all within 1.5–2 hours.
The Dovbush Rocks with caves, the Rozhirche cave monastery, the Stilske hillfort and the unusual 'Carpathian Sea' — an abandoned dam on the Stryi river.
Non-slip soles only. Waterfall and rock trails get wet and slippery, especially after rain.
The most accessible waterfall is Kamianka near Skhidnytsia — an easy trail to combine with the spa resort and mineral springs. For panoramas, climb the Carpathian Lighthouse tower on Mt Tsyukhiv. The Dovbush Rocks with their caves and legends and the Rozhirche cave monastery are a separate adventure. Wear non-slip shoes — rock trails and waterfall approaches get slippery.
