Na Bambetli is a small, deliberately old-fashioned coffee house tucked inside the Andreolli Passage — Lviv's oldest arcade, linking Rynok Square 29 with Teatralna Street. The passage takes its name from Dominik Andreolli, a Swiss confectioner who opened one of Lviv's first patisseries here in 1803. The cafe itself was opened by a group of enthusiasts in 2007 and recreates the Galician cafe culture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries: carved wooden bambetli (bench-sofas that give the place its name), vintage radios and household objects on the walls, linen textiles and coffee brewed in a Turkish pot. The window seats facing the passage are the ones regulars fight over. Order the house syrnyk (baked cheesecake), a hot fruit strudel, Turkish-style coffee, and mulled wine in winter.
It sits inside the Andreolli Passage, the covered arcade running from Rynok Square 29 through to 12 Teatralna Street. From the square you enter through the archway — it is easy to walk past.
The signatures are the baked syrnyk cheesecake, hot fruit strudels and coffee brewed in a Turkish pot; in winter, mulled wine.
