Krakow-Balice is western Ukraine's main low-cost hub: Ryanair and Wizz Air fly to dozens of European cities, and booked early a flight often costs as much as a bus ticket. Rzeszów is the airport closest to Lviv — fewer routes, but half the journey.
The scheme is simple: bus or train from Lviv to the airport (routes below) plus the flight. Allow 4–5 hours to Rzeszów and 7–8 to Krakow including the border — and consider an overnight stay before early departures.
The golden low-cost rule: the cheapest fares vanish first. Book 1–2 months ahead, watch the sales and stick to hand luggage — then the prices are genuinely funny.
