The Ancient Lviv Museum (Lviv Starodavniy) is a private interactive multimedia museum in the undergrounds at 21 Krakivska Street, within the Church of the Transfiguration complex. Eleven exhibitions on 600 sq m cover the city's history from the 9th to the 18th century, from the founding of Lviv (1256) to the end of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth era (1772). Instead of classic display cases it uses lifelike figures of historical personalities in the manner of a wax museum, interactive walls, touchscreens, and sound and scent effects. Separate sections tell the story of the Polish, Armenian, Jewish, German, Austrian, Hungarian and Czech communities of the city. It is a private museum, not a branch of the Lviv Historical Museum.
Monday to Friday 11:00-21:00; Saturday and Sunday 10:00-21:00, at 21 Krakivska Street.
