The Jablonowski-Brunicki Palace in the village of Pidhirtsi, Stryi district (2 Stryiska St., about 10 km from Stryi), is a listed architectural monument. Prince Jozef Aleksander Jablonowski began building the palace around 1734 on the site of an older hunting lodge; in 1817 Baron Jozef Brunicki bought the estate, and the building received its present Historicist look in 1895 to a design by the Chernivtsi architect Karl Romstorfer. In the 20th century it housed a boarding school and a fish farm and fell into ruin. In 2014 three families bought the palace and have been restoring it themselves - the roof, the ceilings and part of the interiors - and now give guided tours. Around it lies an old arboretum of more than 8 hectares, planted in 1892 and considered the first in Halychyna, with rare trees, a lime alley, a rotunda and a pond.
The palace is privately owned and still being restored, so tours run mainly at weekends and only by prior arrangement - call +38 097 030 53 01 in advance. Themed tours with coffee and sweets are held on Sundays.
There is no fixed admission fee - visitors leave a donation towards the restoration. A themed guided tour costs around 200 UAH per person.
No. This palace is in Pidhirtsi village near Stryi. The well-known Pidhirtsi Castle of the Golden Horseshoe route is in a different village of the same name in the Zolochiv district, over 100 km away.
