Svirzh Castle is a 15th-17th-century fortified residence above a lake in the village of Svirzh, about 45 km from Lviv. First recorded in 1484, it carries the date 1530 carved above the main gate. The castle belongs to the National Union of Architects of Ukraine and is not a conventional museum with a permanent collection: it can only be seen on a guided tour, with no independent walk-in access. Tours start every half hour on weekends during the warm season, roughly from mid-May to mid-October. The castle is widely recognised from films shot here, including D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers, Hetman and Dovbush. It still needs restoration, although the walls and roofs are preserved. The grounds are pet-friendly and sit beside a lake.
