Dzyga is a legendary Lviv art centre and artistic association founded in 1993 by figures of the late-Soviet student movement — Markiyan Ivashchyshyn, Andriy Rozhnyatovsky, Yaroslav Ruschyshyn — together with artists Serhiy Proskurnia and Vlodko Kaufman. In March 1997 its contemporary art gallery opened in the former Dominican monastery building at 35 Virmenska St. Today the art centre combines a gallery with rotating exhibitions (painting, graphics, photography, installation, performance), a conceptual cafe and a shop; it hosts jazz and electronic concerts, literary readings and film screenings. Dzyga co-organises the Flugery Lvova, Jazz Bez and Contemporary Art Week festivals.
Entry to the contemporary art gallery at 35 Virmenska St. is usually free; only selected concerts and events at the art centre are ticketed.
The art centre is open daily from roughly late morning until 22:00-23:00, but published schedules differ and the gallery and cafe may keep different hours — check by phone (+38 067 672 74 64) or on Dzyga's social media.
