Hurkalo is a five-metre waterfall in the Skolivski Beskydy mountains, some 4–6 km south-west of the village of Korchyn, at around 570 m above sea level. It drops into a pool roughly two metres deep and is named after the low roar you hear from the trail. Unlike Kamianka, reaching it is a proper forest walk: a marked route (white rectangle with a yellow stripe) leaves Korchyn on asphalt and continues on a dirt forest road; the 6 km one way takes 1.5–2.5 hours. The track turns to mud after rain, so it is best to leave the car in the village. No technical skill or gear is required, but you need waterproof footwear and half a day for the round trip. The final descent to the pool is over roots and wet rock and can be slippery. The area is part of the Skolivski Beskydy National Park, and there is a fee point at the Korchyn trailhead.
Drive the Kyiv–Chop highway to Skole and on to the village of Korchyn — about 100–110 km, roughly 2 hours. Leave the car in the village; the forest road beyond is unpaved and often muddy. By public transport, take a bus or train to Skole (2–2.5 hours), then a local ride to Korchyn.
About 6 km each way from Korchyn on a marked forest road — 1.5–2.5 hours one way, so plan 4–6 hours for the round trip with a break at the falls.
No technical gear is needed, but the descent to the pool is over slippery rocks and roots, mobile coverage is poor and the track gets muddy after rain. Wear waterproof boots, carry water, and avoid the water during floods.
There is a fee point at the Korchyn trailhead for the national park: reported at 40 UAH per adult and 20 UAH for children aged 7–14 in 2025; younger children and military families free. Check the current rate on site.
