Dovkillia, the Lviv City Children's Ecological and Naturalist Centre at 12 Kubanska St, is a municipal out-of-school institution founded in 1975 (housed since 1987 in the former home of zoologist Benedykt Dybowski). Alongside free clubs for children aged 6–18 (around 14 programmes: young zoologists, ornithologists, aquarists, floristry, nature photography), it keeps its own zoological display — a mini-zoo with over 250 species: the monkey Chita, llamas, raccoons, goats, ponies, rabbits, plus dozens of bird, reptile and amphibian species. It is not a commercial attraction: entry and tours are free, but visits are arranged in advance.
