Stilske hillfort is what remains of a huge early-medieval town of the White Croats, spread across a wooded plateau above Stilsko village. Founded in the 7th century, it peaked in the 9th–10th centuries: roughly 250 hectares enclosed by some 10 km of ramparts — one of the largest Slavic hillforts in Europe. There are no standing walls: this is an archaeological landscape of ramparts, ditches, rock complexes, burial mounds, pagan sanctuaries and altars. Since 2015 it has been a historical-cultural reserve of the Lviv Regional Council, with an office in Stilsko. A guide is strongly recommended — book in advance.
Stilsko is about 40 km south of Lviv (Stryi district, 10 km east of Mykolaiv). By car take the Lviv–Stryi road and turn toward Mykolaiv/Stilsko; by bus travel from Lviv bus station to Mykolaiv, then a local bus to Stilsko.
