The Obroshyne Arboretum is a dendrological park of national significance in the village of Obroshyne, some 12-15 km from Lviv. It was laid out in 1730 as the manor park of the summer residence of Lviv's archbishops and received protected status in 1983. It covers 5 hectares and is managed by the region's agricultural research institute. Its collection holds over 60 species of trees and shrubs, including rare and exotic ones — tulip tree, plane, magnolia, pyramidal oak, maples, thujas, walnuts and lindens — laid out in landscape style around a system of ponds. Next to it stands the late-baroque Archbishops' Palace, designed by Józef Fontana. A small zoological corner was set up here in the 1960s. The park is open, entry is free and there is no ticket office or fixed schedule: it is a scientific and walking area rather than a tourist attraction.
