Zhovkva Castle is a Renaissance-Baroque residence on Vicheva Square in the centre of Zhovkva, built in 1594-1606 by the architect Pavlo Shchaslyvyi for Hetman Stanislaw Zolkiewski. It later served as a royal residence of John III Sobieski and then belonged to the Radziwill family, and was heavily damaged in the First World War. Today it is a branch of the Lviv National Art Gallery and is only partly museumified: restoration has been under way since 2015, with the palace re-roofed and the western tower rebuilt. Visitors can see the inner courtyard and the museum halls in the eastern tower, including the exhibition Sacrum and Profanum in the Culture of the 17th-19th Centuries with more than 200 works, furniture and decorative objects, plus a display on the history of the town and the castle.
