Zolochiv Castle is a palazzo in fortezza residence founded in 1634 by Jakub Sobieski, father of King John III. Today it is a branch of the Lviv National Art Gallery at 5 Ternopilska Street in Zolochiv. The bastion fortifications, earthen ramparts and moat survive, and the ravelin was rebuilt in 2007. Inside stand two palaces: the Grand Palace (72 by 22 metres), with an exhibition on the castle's history alongside furniture, porcelain and paintings, and the octagonal Chinese Palace, which houses the Museum of Eastern Cultures with porcelain, Buddhist sculpture, Japanese prints and oriental carpets. The grounds also hold the famous inscribed stones bearing still-undeciphered symbols.
Adults 200 UAH, students 150 UAH, children and pensioners 100 UAH; family tickets 300-500 UAH. A guided tour for up to 20 people costs 500-700 UAH.
Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00-18:00; the ticket office closes at 17:30. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
