Metropolitan's Gardens (St George's Cathedral Garden)

The Metropolitan Gardens sit on the slopes of St George's hill, beside the palace of the Greek Catholic metropolitans. Laid out in the early 18th century and redesigned as an English landscape park in the mid-19th, the garden fell into neglect under Soviet rule; it reopened to visitors in 2015 after restoration and was formally transferred to the UGCC in April 2025. Today it is terraces of fruit trees, a grotto-shaped gazebo by K. Fesinger and a view over the city, with the St George's café on site. Walks are run as a guided visit of roughly 30 minutes. The garden also works as an open-air concert venue — chamber and symphonic programmes are ticketed separately from entry.
