Drohobych is the best full-day trip from Lviv: 75–80 km away, about 1 hour 20 minutes by bus or minibus, with trains also running. The heart of town is Rynok Square with its town hall (the present clock-tower building dates from the 1920s) and the Gothic St. Bartholomew's church (late 14th–16th c.). The highlight is the wooden Church of St. George (15th–16th c.), inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2013 among the wooden tserkvas of the Carpathian region; it operates as the wooden-architecture department of the 'Drohobychchyna' Museum (adult ticket 150 UAH, plus 50 UAH to climb to the upper gallery). Nearby are the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Holy Trinity cathedral and the choral synagogue. The salt works at 27 Solonyi Stavok St — the oldest continuously operating enterprise in Ukraine — runs guided tours. Drohobych is also the city of Bruno Schulz, with an exhibition devoted to him in the Palace of Arts. Allow a full day.
