The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption is the main Roman Catholic church of Lviv and one of its oldest buildings. Begun in the 1360s and finished over a century later, it blends Gothic architecture with later Baroque additions. Inside are soaring vaults, late-19th-century stained glass by Józef Mehoffer and the chapels of Lviv’s patrician families. Still an active church; entry is free, with viewing limited during services.
