The Lviv State Palace of Aesthetic Education of Student Youth at 2 Yevhena Petrushevycha Square is a regional centre for youth arts education and one of the larger concert halls outside Lviv's centre. It was created in 1956, when a former theatre building was converted into a Palace of Culture. Today it has a 640-seat concert hall, a 100-seat conference hall and rehearsal studios. Around 20 clubs and more than 50 groups train some 700 students here — folk and contemporary dance, vocals, song theatre and folk-music ensembles — with tuition free of charge. The hall regularly hosts concerts, ensemble showcases, festivals, competitions, children's shows and civic ceremonies.
