A memorial to Prince Sviatoslav Volodymyrovych in the Sviatoslavia tract between Skole and Hrebeniv, above the Opir valley. Opened in August 2012, it is a truncated-pyramid mound with a sarcophagus and a bronze figure of the prince, crowned by an 18-metre cross of stone blocks. Sviatoslav (c. 982–1015), a son of Volodymyr the Great, ruled the Drevlian land. According to legend, in 1015, fleeing his brother Sviatopolk, he was killed here with his retinue, and the name Skole comes from the order to "cut them down" (skoloty). The legend was recorded by Mykola Ustyianovych, the priest of Slavske, in his poem "Sviatoslav's Tomb" (1865); his son, the painter Kornylo Ustyianovych, wrote a study of it. The nearby mound has been excavated, but whose burial it is remains unproven.
In the Sviatoslavia tract between the town of Skole and the village of Hrebeniv, by the Skole–Slavske road, about 6 km south-west of Skole's centre. The cross is visible from trains passing through Skole.
It is a symbolic tomb built in 2012. According to legend, Sviatoslav was killed here in 1015; a nearby mound has been excavated, but it has not been proven to be his burial.
