Museum of Lviv Railway History — Ukraine’s first railway museum in Lviv

The Museum of the History of Lviv Railway (54/56 Yuriya Fedkovycha St., inside the Railway Workers' Palace) was founded in 1973 and was the first railway museum in Ukraine. Its renewed exhibition opened in 2001 for the 140th anniversary of the Lviv Railway and holds over 900 items: original documents, photographs, tools, signalling devices and railway uniforms from different eras. The story covers the building of the railways in Galicia, Volhynia, the Carpathians and on to Chernivtsi under Austria-Hungary, Poland, the USSR and independent Ukraine. It is a departmental museum: entry is free (voluntary donation), but group tours must be booked in advance by phone. The museum also runs walking tours of Lviv's main railway station.
