Pinsel Museum

The Johann Georg Pinsel Museum is a branch of the Borys Voznytskyi Lviv National Art Gallery, housed in the former church of the Poor Clares convent (1607) on Mytna Square, 2. Opened in 1996, it is the only museum in the world devoted to Johann Georg Pinsel, the mid-18th-century Lviv sculptor often called the Ukrainian Michelangelo, whose work was exhibited at the Louvre in 2012. The display gathers more than thirty late-Baroque wooden sacral sculptures brought from churches across Galicia and set inside the church nave, where the sculpture and the architecture play off each other.
