The Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv is the city's oldest Ukrainian museum, founded in 1905 by the Greek Catholic Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky as a Church Museum and donated to the Ukrainian people. Its main building at 20 Svobody Avenue (Tue-Sun, 10:00-18:00) hosts changing exhibitions and displays of Ukrainian art - from sacred painting and 12th-18th-century icons to 19th and early-20th-century painting and graphics. The collection exceeds 170,000 items and is considered one of the world's most complete collections of the Ukrainian icon. As of 2026 most branches (the historical complex on Drahomanova 42 and the memorial museums of Levytsky, Novakivsky and Trush) are closed; only the main building and the Olena Kulchytska museum are open.
The main building at 20 Svobody Avenue is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00-18:00; the ticket office closes at 17:30. Closed on Monday.
As of 2026 the historical complex (42 Drahomanova St) and the memorial museums of Levytsky, Novakivsky and Trush are closed. The Olena Kulchytska museum (7 Lystopadovoho Chynu St) is open Tue-Fri 10:00-17:00 and Sat-Sun 10:00-18:00.
