The Univ Dormition Lavra is the principal monastery of the Studite monks of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in the village of Univ some 60 km east of Lviv. First mentioned in 1395, it was fortified with walls and towers in the 16th-17th centuries and still looks like a fortress-monastery. Shut down by the Austrian authorities in 1790, it was revived in 1898 by Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, used as a camp for clergy in Soviet times, and returned to the Greek Catholic Church in 1991. Today it is one of western Ukraine's largest pilgrimage centres, home to the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Univ, an icon-painting workshop and an icon museum. The church is open around the daily services; the Lavra publishes no fixed opening hours, so guided visits are best arranged by phone in advance.

On weekdays Matins at 06:00, Divine Liturgy at 07:30, Hours at 13:30 and Vespers at 18:00; on Sundays Matins at 07:00 and Liturgies at 09:00 and 11:00. The schedule differs during Lent, Holy Week, Christmas and Epiphany.
