The City Hall at the centre of Rynok Square is the seat of the city government and the best viewpoint in Lviv. The present building dates from 1827–1835 and its tower rises 65 m; 408 steps lead up to a terrace with a full panorama of the Old Town roofs, the High Castle and St. George’s Cathedral. A trumpeter plays from the tower every hour. Tickets for the climb are sold at the tourist information centre on the ground floor.
