The main square of Lviv and the heart of its UNESCO-listed Old Town. Laid out in the 14th century, the 142×129 m square holds the City Hall at its centre and 44 historic townhouses around it (most famously the Black House and the Kornyakt Palace). Four fountains with statues of Neptune, Diana, Amphitrite and Adonis mark the corners. Most walking tours start here; cafés line the arcades and festive markets fill the square on holidays. Free and open around the clock.
