Lake Zhuravlyne, better known as the Dead Lake, is a small mountain body of water in the Skolivski Beskydy National Nature Park, southeast of the village of Dubyna, at about 572 m above sea level. Roughly oval and only some 50 metres long, it holds dark water saturated with hydrogen sulphide — which is why almost nothing lives in it and gas bubbles occasionally rise to the surface. A tiny floating island of tangled roots, moss and branches drifts in its centre, surrounded by marshy ground. Swimming is not advisable: the water is sulphurous, the bottom silted and the banks boggy. It is a wild natural site with no infrastructure — no ticket office, cafe or lifeguards. Reach it on foot along a marked trail (about 8.5 km from Skole, near the Kamianka waterfall); it is roughly 110–120 km from Lviv via the M06 highway.
